How to get notified for every back in stock waitlist signup

When customers sign up for your back-in-stock waitlist, you may want to know about it right away. The Alert me for every signup setting in STOQ sends you an instant email notification each time a customer joins a waitlist for any product in your store.


This is useful if you want to stay close to customer demand, follow up with high-value customers personally, or simply track signups as they happen in real time.


How It Works


When enabled, STOQ sends an email to your chosen address every time a new customer signs up for a back-in-stock waitlist. Each email includes details about the signup — the customer, the product, and the variant they signed up for.


Key points:


  • One email is sent per signup, immediately after the customer submits the form.
  • You choose which email address receives the alerts.
  • This feature is independent of the back-in-stock alerts sent to customers. Enabling this does not change what your customers receive.
  • This is a paid plan feature.


Requirements


Before enabling this feature, make sure:


  • You are on a paid STOQ plan.
  • You have at least one product with the "Notify me" signup widget active.
  • You have an email address ready to receive the alerts.


Enable Alert Me for Every Signup


Follow these steps to turn on instant signup notifications.

  1. Open the STOQ app in your Shopify admin.
  2. Go to Reports from the left menu.
  3. Click Settings (gear icon) in the top right.
  4. Scroll down to the Back in stock section.
  5. Under Waitlist notifications, check the Alert me for every signup checkbox.
  6. In the Email address to receive alerts field that appears, enter the email address where you want to receive notifications.
  7. Click Save.



Tip: Use a shared team inbox or a dedicated email address if multiple team members need to see signup alerts. This avoids cluttering a personal inbox when you have high signup volume.


Change the Alert Email Address


If you need to send signup alerts to a different email:


Steps


  1. Open the STOQ app and go to Reports > Settings.
  2. Under Back in stock > Waitlist notifications, update the Email address to receive alerts field.
  3. Click Save.


The new email address takes effect immediately for all future signups.


Note: The alert email address for individual signup notifications is separate from the general Email address to receive reports field at the top of the Settings page. The reports email is used for CSV exports, weekly/monthly reports, and other report-related emails.


Disable Alert Me for Every Signup


To stop receiving an email for every signup:

  1. Open the STOQ app and go to Reports > Settings.
  2. Under Back in stock > Waitlist notifications, uncheck the Alert me for every signup checkbox.
  3. Click Save.



Your email address is preserved in the settings. If you re-enable the feature later, the same address will be pre-filled.

Waitlist threshold

Tip: You can enable both settings at the same time. Use "Alert me for every signup" for real-time awareness and "Alert me when waitlists get large" to flag products that need restocking attention.

This feature requires a paid STOQ plan. Upgrade your plan to enable it.

Not receiving signup alert emails

Check the email address in the Email address to receive alerts field. Verify the email is correct and check your spam/junk folder. Make sure the setting is saved.

Receiving too many emails

If your store has high signup volume, consider disabling this feature and using the Alert me when waitlists get large threshold notification instead for a less noisy option. You can also check signups in real time from Reports > Current Waitlist.

Alert email address reset after saving

Make sure you click Save after entering the email address. If the page shows unsaved changes, your updates have not been submitted yet.

Want alerts for specific products only

The "Alert me for every signup" feature applies to all products globally. You cannot filter alerts by product. To monitor specific products, use Reports > Current Waitlist and filter by product.


FAQs


Q : Is this the same as the back in stock alert sent to customers?

A : No. The "Alert me for every signup" notification is sent to you (the merchant). It tells you that a customer has joined a waitlist. The back in stock alert is a separate email sent to the customer when the product is restocked. These are two independent features.


Q : Can I send signup alerts to multiple email addresses?

A : The setting supports one email address. To notify multiple team members, use a shared inbox, a distribution list, or an email forwarding rule from your email provider.


Q : Does this work for preorder signups too?

A : No. The "Alert me for every signup" feature is specific to back in stock waitlist signups. It is located under the Back in stock section in Reports > Settings. Preorder-related notifications are managed separately in each preorder offer's settings.


Q : Will I get an alert if the same customer signs up for a different product?

A : Yes. Each signup generates its own alert email, regardless of whether the customer has previously signed up for other products. You receive one email per signup event.


Q : Does this feature cost extra beyond the paid plan?

A : No. The "Alert me for every signup" feature is included with your paid STOQ plan at no additional cost. There is no per-email charge for merchant signup alerts.
