What STOQ shows on your storefront

What STOQ renders on your store, and what comes from your Shopify theme instead.

Last updated

Use this guide if you’re not sure whether something on your product page comes from STOQ or from your Shopify theme. Knowing the line helps you decide who to ask when storefront text or styling looks wrong. In short, STOQ adds a few specific elements, and everything else on the page is your theme.

STOQ only renders these storefront elements:

  • The Notify me button on out-of-stock products, and its signup form or popup.
  • The Preorder button on products in an active preorder offer, and its confirmation popup.
  • The preorder badge on preorder products.
  • The preorder widget’s own extras when you turn them on: the disclaimer, countdown timer, inventory progress bar, and discounted price.

You control the text, colors, and styling of these in STOQ: under the offer’s Widget settings for preorders, or the signup and notification design for back in stock. See Design the preorder widget and Design the signup form.

Everything else on the product page comes from your Shopify theme, not STOQ:

  • “Only X left” and other low-stock labels. These are a theme feature. STOQ doesn’t add or control them.
  • The Add to cart and Buy it now buttons, the price, and the quantity selector.
  • Product images, titles, descriptions, and variant pickers.
  • Page layout, fonts, spacing, and how elements wrap on mobile around STOQ’s widgets.
  • Any One-time purchase / Preorder subscription selector that some themes show on products with a selling plan. See Fix Preorder button display problems.

If the part that looks wrong is in the list above, it’s a theme setting or a job for your theme developer, not STOQ.

A frequent question is whether STOQ shows the “Only 3 left” style of label. It doesn’t. Those come from your theme’s inventory settings. Shopify’s own AI assistant sometimes points at STOQ for them, but STOQ has no low-stock label feature. To change or hide that text, edit your theme (Online Store > Themes > Customize) or ask your theme developer.

Does STOQ show an 'Only X left' or low-stock message?

No. Low-stock labels are a Shopify theme feature. STOQ only adds the Notify me button, the Preorder button, the preorder badge, and the preorder widget’s own elements.

The price or Add to cart button looks wrong. Can STOQ fix it?

Those are theme elements, so they’re set in your theme, not STOQ. STOQ replaces the Add to cart button with its own only on products that are out of stock (Notify me) or on a preorder offer (Preorder).

Why do I see both 'One-time purchase' and 'Preorder' options?

That selector is rendered by your theme for any product with a selling plan, not by STOQ. Turn it off in your theme’s subscription block. See Fix Preorder button display problems.

Can I style STOQ's buttons to match my theme?

Yes. Button text and colors are in the offer’s Widget settings for preorders, or the signup and notification design for back in stock, and you can target STOQ’s elements with custom CSS. See Find CSS selectors.
