Overview

This document details the metafields used in the preorders system, explaining how they are structured and their relationships with shops and product variants. An important note here is that preorder offers on our dashboard are called selling plans in our backend system.

Charges for SMS back in stock alerts

To send SMS back in stock alerts to your customers, Stoq may charge additional fees to process and send the text message to your customers. SMS notifications are charged on a per segment basis - that is, a fee applies to every 160 characters in the message. For example - if your SMS is 350 characters long, it is considered to be 3 segments long (350/160 = 2.18).

If your store sends 100 SMS notifications, each 1 segment long, in a particular month to customers in USA/CA, you will be charged $2 ($0.02 X 100) in addition to the $25 subscription charge. If no SMS’s are sent in a particular month, you will not be charged any additional fees.

SMS charges vary depending on the country your customers are located in.

What is DKIM?

DKIM, or DomainKeys Identified Mail, is an email authentication method that uses a digital signature to let the receiver of an email know that the message was sent and authorized by the owner of a domain.

Implementation

After verifying your email address, follow these steps to implement the DKIM records:

Head to 'Back in stock alerts' from the left bar of the App.
Then go to 'Notifications' section.
Scroll down to end and click "Customize email".
A banner 'DKIM Verification' will be visible on the page.

Click on 'Download Records' to download the DKIM records and follow the instructions below to set it up.

Testing a preorder offer on your Shopify store ensures everything works smoothly before making it available to your customers. Follow these steps to identify the product, set up the preorder offer, complete a checkout, and verify the order in Stoq’s reports.

Prepare for testing

Method 1: Using a 100% Discount Code

Access Discount Section: In your Shopify admin, go to Discounts.
Create Discount: Click on Create discount and select Discount code.
Setup Discount Details: Enter a name for the code, like TESTORDER.
Discount Type: Choose Percentage and set it to 100%.
Apply to Products: Specify that the discount applies to all products or select specific ones.
Save Discount: Save the discount code.
Add a preorder product to your cart, and apply the discount code at checkout. Complete the purchase process.

Method 2: Using Shopify’s Bogus Gateway

Navigate to Payment Providers: In Shopify admin, go to Settings > Payments.
Choose Bogus Gateway: In the Accept credit cards section, click Add a provider > Third party credit card provider > Bogus Gateway.
Activate the Gateway: Click Activate to enable it.
Add a preorder product to your cart. Proceed to checkout, and enter these bogus payment details: Name on card (any name), Card number (1 for success, 2 for failure, 3 for error), CVV (any 3 digits), Expiration date (any future date). And complete the checkout process.

Show/Hide 'Notify me' button on Specific Products

Stoq simplifies the process of showing or hiding the 'Notify Me' button on select products using tags. There are several reasons you might want to do this – perhaps a product is no longer restockable or you prefer not to collect registrations for specific items.

To enable this feature, follow these easy steps:

Navigate to Stoq, click on 'Back in stock alerts' from the left menu bar of the app.
Under Signup Widget, click on ‘Customize button’.

Under the button tab, click on 'Products'.
To show the Notify me button on specific products, choose "Show button on specific products".

Add the tag shown here - 'rocket-hide' - to the products you want to exclude from displaying the button. Read about how to do this in Shopify admin.
You can change this tag if you'd like. For example, if you already have a tag named "no-restock" on your products, add it in the Tags field shown here.
Finally, select what the app should do if it finds this tag on your product. Set it to 'Hide' if you want the app to hide the button for products with these tags or 'Show' for the reverse effect.

Sync customer data to Klaviyo

Stoq's integration with Klaviyo unlocks the potential for advanced customer engagement. You can easily sync customer details from Stoq to Klaviyo and add them to your existing marketing campaigns.

How to enable Klaviyo sync

In the Stoq app, navigate to Back in stock Alerts.
Click on Settings, and then click on the Integrations option below Settings
There, you'll see the option to Sync customers to Klaviyo. Toggle this on to activate syncing.

To complete the sync setup, you'll need the private API key from your Klaviyo account. To grab the private key, please follow these steps here. While creating a Private API, please ensure the following: Opt for the ' Full access' key option in the 'Select access level' section.

We recommend saving the API key with 'Restock- private-key" so it is clear that this key is solely used by restock rocket and has limited access.

To help you identify the source within Klaviyo, every customer record will include "restock-rocket" as the "$source" property. Read this article to create a segment for this property.
