How much does STOQ cost? plans, pricing, and charges explained

STOQ offers four plans designed to fit every stage of your Shopify journey. Whether you are just getting started or scaling a high-demand store, there is a plan for you. This article breaks down how much STOQ costs, what each plan includes, and what additional charges may apply for preorder overages, notification overages, and SMS alerts.

All plans include both preorder and back-in-stock alert features. STOQ charges 0% transaction fees on all plans and you keep 100% of your preorder revenue.

Before You Begin

Keep the following in mind before choosing a plan:

  • All paid plans include a 14-day free trial. You are not charged the subscription fee during the trial period.
  • STOQ bills through Shopify. Your subscription fee and any usage charges appear on your regular Shopify invoice.
  • A preorder for billing purposes is any order that contains at least one preorder product powered by STOQ. One order counts as one preorder regardless of how many preorder items it contains.
  • A notification is a single back-in-stock email alert sent to one customer.
  • To see the latest plans and pricing, click Plans in the STOQ sidebar menu.

What Each Plan Includes

Every plan includes both preorder and back-in-stock features. Here is what you get at each tier.

Free Plan

The Free plan is ideal for new stores that want to go live in minutes at no cost. It includes:

  • Customizable preorder button and Notify Me widget
  • Unlimited products and registrations

  • Automatic email back-in-stock alerts (up to 30/month)
  • Up to 10 preorder orders per month
  • Insightful reports and analytics
  • SDK and API access

On the Free plan, preorders are paused if you exceed the 10-order limit, and notifications stop after 30 are sent. No additional fees are charged and the features simply stop until the limit resets next month or you upgrade.

Lite Plan — $10/month

The Lite plan unlocks all STOQ features and is ideal for growing stores. In addition to everything in the Free plan, it includes:

  • Up to 100 preorder orders per month (continue beyond limit at $0.25/order)
  • Up to 1,000 notifications per month (continue beyond limit at $0.01/alert)
  • SMS back-in-stock alerts ($0.025/segment)
  • Preorder confirmation emails and SMS
  • Auto-collect balance payments on partial preorders
  • Start and end date scheduling for offers
  • Multi-language support
  • Split or hold fulfillments

  • Export data to CSV

Pro Plan — $29/month

The Pro plan is built for stores with products in high demand that need higher limits. It includes everything in the Lite plan, plus:

  • Up to 400 preorder orders per month (continue beyond limit at $0.10/order)
  • Up to 3,000 notifications per month (continue beyond limit at $0.075/alert)
  • Higher monthly limits across the board

Unlimited Plan — $69/month

The Unlimited plan removes all limits. It includes everything in the Pro plan, plus:

  • Unlimited preorder orders — no per-order fee
  • Unlimited notifications — no per-notification fee
  • Priority Slack support directly from the senior team, including founders

Additional Charges Explained

Beyond the monthly subscription fee, STOQ may charge additional fees in three areas. These are the key factors in understanding how much STOQ costs.

Preorder Overage Fees

If you exceed your plan's preorder limit on a paid plan, STOQ continues processing preorder orders and charges a per-order fee:

  • Lite: $0.25 per order above the 100-order limit
  • Pro: $0.10 per order above the 400-order limit
  • Free: No fee — preorders are paused instead
  • Unlimited: No limit or fee

The fee is per order, not per product. An order with multiple preorder items counts as one preorder.

Notification Overage Fees

If you exceed your plan's notification limit on a paid plan and have enabled the "send beyond plan limit" option, STOQ continues sending alerts and charges a per-notification fee:

  • Lite: $0.01 per alert above the 1,000-alert limit
  • Pro: $0.075 per alert above the 3,000-alert limit
  • Free: No fee — notifications stop
  • Unlimited: No limit or fee

SMS Alert Fees

SMS back-in-stock alerts are available on all paid plans and are charged on a per-segment basis:

  • Fee: $0.025 per SMS segment (US/CA). International rates may vary. Click here to see the Charges for SMS alerts
  • A segment is 140 characters. If your SMS message is 350 characters, it is considered 3 segments (350 ÷ 140 = 2.5, rounded up to 3).

SMS fees are separate from the notification limit. They apply in addition to any notification overage fees.

App Spending Limit

Shopify enforces an app spending limit that prevents usage charges (SMS fees and overage fees) from exceeding a maximum threshold during a billing period. STOQ sets this limit at $2,000 for Lite plans and up to $4,000 for higher plans. If this limit is reached, SMS alerts may be temporarily disabled until the spending limit is increased.

Note: If SMS alerts are disabled due to the spending limit, you can increase it from your Shopify admin under Settings → Billing → App charges.

How to View and Change Your Plan

  1. In STOQ, click Plans in the sidebar menu.
  2. Review the available plans and their features.
  3. Click Subscribe on the plan you want.
  4. Shopify redirects you to approve the new subscription charge.
  5. Your new plan takes effect immediately.

If you are downgrading, STOQ asks for a reason (optional) and then processes the change.

Note: If you upgrade after exceeding the Free plan's preorder limit, go to Preorders to re-enable any offers that were paused.

Applying a Discount Code

If you have a discount code:

  1. On the Plans page, click Apply discount in the top-right corner.

  1. Enter your discount code and click Apply.

  1. Discounted prices appear on the plan cards.

  1. Select your plan and subscribe at the discounted rate.

Known Limitations

Keep these constraints in mind regarding STOQ pricing.

  • Monthly reset only — Preorder and notification limits reset at the beginning of each calendar month. Unused allowances do not carry over.
  • Per-order preorder billing — STOQ counts orders, not individual products. An order with multiple preorder items counts as one preorder toward your limit.
  • SMS charged separately — SMS fees apply per segment sent, regardless of your notification limit. They are billed as Shopify usage charges.
  • Overage fees are non-refundable — Once a usage charge is billed through Shopify, it cannot be reversed by STOQ.
  • Free plan pauses preorders — Exceeding the preorder limit on the Free plan pauses all preorder offers. They must be manually re-enabled after upgrading or when the limit resets.
  • Free plan stops notifications — Exceeding the notification limit on the Free plan stops further alerts until the next month or an upgrade.
  • Spending limit may disable SMS — If Shopify's app spending limit is reached, SMS alerts are temporarily disabled until the limit is increased.
  • Partner stores — Shopify partner and development stores receive a special free plan with higher limits (30 preorders/month, 100 notifications/month) and are not charged overage fees.

FAQs

Q : Does STOQ take a percentage of my sales?

A : No. STOQ charges 0 percent transaction fees on all plans. You keep 100 percent of your preorder revenue. Only subscription and possible overage fees apply.

Q : What is the difference between a notification limit and a preorder limit?

A : Notification limit is the number of back in stock emails you can send per month. Preorder limit is the number of preorder orders you can process per month. These are separate limits.

Q : When do my limits reset?

A : Both limits reset at the start of each calendar month. Unused limits do not carry over.
