Preorder Order Actions in STOQ: Bulk and Individual Overview

STOQ gives you a set of bulk and individual actions to manage your preorder orders efficiently. You can access these actions from two places — the Reports > Preorders tab or the Preorders > Orders page. Select one or more orders and use the action bar to perform operations in bulk, or apply them to individual orders.

This article provides a quick overview of each available action. For detailed step-by-step instructions, follow the links to the dedicated article for each action.

How to Access Preorder Actions

You can find all preorder order actions in two places within the STOQ app.

  1. Reports > Preorders — The preorder orders report table.
  2. Preorders > Orders — The orders tab within a specific preorder offer.

In both views, select one or more orders using the checkboxes. The action bar appears at the top of the table with the available actions. You can also select all matching orders across pages using the Select all matching option.

Note: Bulk actions are available on paid plans only. On free plans, a prompt to upgrade is shown when you attempt a bulk action.

Available Actions

Here is an overview of each action you can perform on preorder orders.

Collect Payment

Collect outstanding payments for partially paid or unpaid preorder orders. This action triggers Shopify to charge the customer's payment method for the remaining balance. You can choose whether to send a notification to the customer when payment is collected.

This action is only enabled when the selected orders include unpaid or partially paid orders. Fully paid orders are skipped automatically.

Send Shipping Update Email

Send a shipping update or delay notification email to customers for selected preorder orders. When you trigger this action, a modal opens where you can customize the email subject, header, and description before sending. The email template supports variables like {{order.name}} and {{shop.name}}.

This is useful when preorder products are delayed or when you want to proactively communicate shipping timelines to your customers.

Send Email Confirmation

Resend the preorder confirmation email to customers for selected orders. This is helpful if a customer did not receive their original confirmation or if you need to send it again after making changes to the order.

For detailed steps, visit Send preorder confirmation email

Open Scheduled Fulfillments

Open fulfillments that are currently in a Scheduled state, making them available for immediate fulfillment. When a preorder is set to fulfill on a future date, the fulfillment remains in a "Scheduled" status until that date. This action overrides the schedule and moves the fulfillment to an open state so you can fulfill it right away.

A confirmation dialog is shown before the action is executed.

Release "On Hold" Fulfillments

Release fulfillments that are currently in an On hold state, allowing them to be fulfilled immediately. STOQ can place preorder fulfillments on hold automatically based on your offer settings. This action removes the hold so the orders become ready for fulfillment.

A confirmation dialog is shown before the action is executed.

For detailed steps, visit Release on-hold fulfillment for preorders

Reschedule Fulfillment

Change the scheduled fulfillment date for selected preorder orders. When you trigger this action, a date picker modal opens where you select the new fulfillment date. All selected orders are rescheduled to fulfill on the new date.

This is useful when product availability changes and you need to push back or bring forward the fulfillment date for a batch of preorders.

For detailed steps, visit How to reschedule preorder fulfilment

Reschedule Payment

Change the payment due date for selected preorder orders that use deferred or partial payment. When you trigger this action, a date picker modal opens where you select the new payment collection date. All selected orders are updated with the new due date.

This is useful when you need to delay payment collection — for example, if a product launch date has been pushed back and you want to align payment collection with the new timeline.

FAQs

Q: Can I apply actions to all matching orders at once?

A: Yes. When you select all orders on the current page, a banner appears offering to select all orders matching your current filters across all pages. This allows you to apply bulk actions to large sets of orders without manually selecting each page.

Q: Why is the "Collect payment" button disabled?

A: The Collect payment action is only enabled when the selected orders include at least one unpaid or partially paid order. If all selected orders are already fully paid, the button is disabled because there is no outstanding balance to collect.

Q: Are bulk actions available on free plans?

A: No. Bulk actions are available on paid plans only (Lite, Standard, and Premium). If you are on a free or Start plan, you will see an upgrade prompt when attempting to use a bulk action. Upgrade your plan to unlock bulk order management.

Q: Do bulk actions show a confirmation before executing?

A: Yes. Destructive or impactful actions like opening scheduled fulfillments, releasing held fulfillments, and collecting payments show a confirmation dialog before executing. The confirm button includes a short countdown timer to prevent accidental clicks
