How to see inventory status for preorder products by Market

If you sell in multiple Shopify markets, you can now filter your preorder products by market to see inventory status for each region. This makes it easy to check whether products are in stock or out of stock across different markets — without leaving the Products tab of your preorder offer.

How the Market Filter Works

The market filter is a dropdown that appears in the Products tab of a preorder offer. When you select a specific market, STOQ refreshes the inventory status icons for each product variant to show stock levels for that market's assigned inventory locations.

This means you can quickly answer questions like:

  • Is this variant out of stock in my US market but still in stock in Europe?
  • Which variants need preorders enabled for a specific region?
  • Are my inventory locations mapped correctly for each market?

Note: The market filter only appears when the offer has specific markets enabled and at least one Shopify market is configured.

Requirements

Before you can use the market filter, make sure:

  • Your preorder offer has specific markets enabled (not "All markets").
  • At least one Shopify market is assigned to the offer.
  • For accurate results, your inventory locations should be mapped to markets in STOQ's market settings.

Filter Preorder Products by Market

Follow these steps to view inventory status for a specific market.

Steps

  1. Open the STOQ app in your Shopify admin.
  2. Go to Preorders from the left menu.
  3. Click Edit on the preorder offer you want to check.
  4. Navigate to the Products tab.
  5. Look for the market filter dropdown (globe icon) near the top-right of the products table.
  6. Click the dropdown and select a market from the list.
  7. The inventory status icons for each variant update to reflect stock levels in the selected market.

To view combined inventory across all markets again, select All markets from the dropdown.

Understand the Inventory Status Icons

Each product variant in the table shows status icons that indicate its inventory and selling policy. These icons update when you switch between markets.

When the Offer Uses STOQ as the Inventory Provider

Icon

Meaning

Green inventory icon

Variant is out of stock (inventory is 0 or below) — ready for preorder.

Warning inventory icon

Variant is not out of stock (inventory is above 0) — customers can still purchase normally.

Green status icon

Continue selling when out of stock is enabled for this variant.

Warning status icon

Continue selling when out of stock is not enabled for this variant.

When the Offer Uses Shopify as the Inventory Provider

Icon

Meaning

Green inventory icon

Variant is in stock (inventory is 1 or higher) — preorder button shows.

Warning inventory icon

Variant is out of stock (inventory is below 1) — needs restocking.

Tip: Hover over any status icon to see a tooltip with the exact inventory count and status details for the selected market.

Market Locations Warning

When you open the market filter, you may see a warning message that says "Product status may not be correct." This means one of the following:

  • Your STOQ market setup type is not set to Multiple markets.
  • Your inventory locations are not mapped to markets.

Without location-to-market mapping, STOQ cannot determine which inventory locations belong to which market. The status icons may show combined inventory instead of market-specific inventory.

How to Fix This

  1. Click Configure markets in the warning message, or go to Preorders > Settings > Markets.
  2. Set the market setup type to Multiple markets.
  3. Map your inventory locations to the correct markets.
  4. Click Save.

Once configured, the market filter will show accurate per-market inventory status.

Example: Checking Stock Across Markets

Imagine you sell a sneaker in both the US and EU markets. Here is how you would check stock:

  1. Open your preorder offer and go to the Products tab.
  2. Select United States from the market filter.
  3. Check the inventory icons — the sneaker shows a green icon (out of stock in the US warehouse, ready for preorder).
  4. Switch to European Union from the market filter.
  5. The sneaker now shows a warning icon (still in stock in the EU warehouse, not yet on preorder).

This tells you preorders are active for US customers but EU customers can still buy normally.

Troubleshooting

Problem

Solution

Market filter dropdown is not visible

The filter only appears when the offer has specific markets enabled and at least one market is assigned. Check the offer's market settings.

Status icons do not change when switching markets

Make sure your inventory locations are mapped to markets in STOQ's market settings. Without mapping, STOQ shows combined inventory for all locations.

"Product status may not be correct" warning appears

Go to Preorders > Settings > Markets and map your inventory locations to the correct markets.

A market I expect is missing from the dropdown

Only markets assigned to the offer appear in the filter. Edit the offer's market settings to add the missing market.

FAQs

Q: Does the market filter change which products are shown?

A: No. The market filter only changes the inventory status displayed for each variant. The same products remain in the table regardless of which market you select.

Q: Can I use the market filter with "All markets" offers?

A: No. The market filter only appears on offers that have specific markets enabled. If your offer uses "All markets," inventory status reflects combined stock across all locations.

Q: Do I need to save after switching markets?

A: No. The market filter is a view-only tool. Switching between markets refreshes the inventory status icons instantly without requiring a save.

Q: What happens if I have not mapped inventory locations to markets?

A: STOQ will still show inventory data, but it may not be accurate per market. You will see a warning message in the market filter dropdown prompting you to configure market-to-location mapping.

Q: Can I filter by market in the main Preorders > Products tab?

A: No. The market filter is available only within an individual offer's Products tab, not in the top-level Products tab under Preorders.
