How to setup STOQ dashboard in another language

You can use STOQ in another language by changing the dashboard language in your language settings. STOQ supports 24 languages, so you can manage your back in stock alerts and preorders in the language you're most comfortable with. This changes all menus, buttons, and labels throughout the STOQ app.

Overview

The "Use STOQ in" setting controls the language of the STOQ dashboard interface. When you change this setting, all text in the app — navigation menus, button labels, descriptions, and settings — updates to the selected language. This does not affect the customer-facing widget or notification language, which is controlled separately.

Prerequisites

  • A STOQ account connected to your Shopify store.
  • Access to the Manage languages page in STOQ.

Known Limitations

  • Dashboard language only. The "Use STOQ in" setting changes only the STOQ app interface. It does not change the language of customer-facing elements like the "Notify me" button, signup form, or email alerts. Those are controlled by the "Language for preorders & back in stock alerts" setting on the same page.
  • All team members see the same language. The dashboard language applies to everyone who accesses STOQ on your store. There is no per-user language setting.
  • No paid plan required. This feature is available on all plans, including the free plan.

Troubleshooting

Symptom

Likely Cause

Fix

Dashboard did not change language

The page did not reload after selecting a language

Refresh the page manually. If the language still hasn't changed, try selecting it again

Customer-facing widget is still in the old language

You changed the dashboard language, not the widget language

Use the "Language for preorders & back in stock alerts" dropdown to change the customer-facing language

My language is not available

STOQ does not yet support that language for the dashboard

The 24 supported languages are listed above. Contact STOQ support to request additional languages

FAQs

Q: Does changing the dashboard language affect my customers?

A: No. The "Use STOQ in" setting only changes the STOQ app interface that you see as a merchant. Your customers continue to see the widget, signup form, and email alerts in the language set under "Language for preorders & back in stock alerts."

Q: Can I set different dashboard languages for different team members?

A: No. The dashboard language is a store-level setting. All users who access STOQ on your store see the same language.

Q: Do I need a paid plan to change the dashboard language?

A: No. Changing the STOQ dashboard language is available on all plans, including the free plan.

Q: What is the difference between "Use STOQ in" and "Language for preorders & back in stock alerts"?

A: "Use STOQ in" changes the language of the STOQ dashboard (what you see as a merchant). "Language for preorders & back in stock alerts" changes the default language for customer-facing content like the "Notify me" button text, signup form, and notification emails.

Q: Will changing the language reset my settings?

A: No. Changing the dashboard language does not affect any of your existing settings, templates, or configurations. It only changes the display language of the interface.
