How to Get Notified When Back in Stock Alerts Are Sent
STOQ can send you an email every time back in stock alerts go out to your customers. This helps you stay informed about which products were restocked and how many customers were notified — without having to check the app manually.
Find the Setting
The notification setting lives on the Reports Settings page. Here is how to get there.
- From your Shopify admin, open the STOQ app.
- Click Reports in the left sidebar.
- Click the More button in the top-right corner of the page.
- Select Settings from the dropdown menu.
This opens the Reports Settings page, where you can manage all report and notification preferences.

Enable the Notification
Once you are on the Reports Settings page, enable the checkbox to start receiving emails when back in stock alerts are sent.
- In the Reports section, find the checkbox labeled Notify me when back in stock alerts are sent.
- Check the box to enable it. Hover over the checkbox to see the tooltip: "Receive an email whenever back in stock alerts are sent to your customers."
- Click Save in the top-right corner of the page.
After saving, STOQ sends you an email every time back in stock alerts are sent to your customers — whether the alerts were triggered automatically or sent manually.

Set the Email Address
The notification email is sent to the address listed in the Email address to receive reports field at the top of the Reports section.
- On the Reports Settings page, enter your preferred email address in the Email address to receive reports field.
- Click Save.
All report-related emails — including weekly reports, monthly reports, and back in stock alert notifications — are sent to this address.

What the Notification Email Includes
Each time STOQ sends back in stock alerts to customers, you receive an email with the following details:
- Product and variant — The product and variant that came back in stock.
- Number of customers notified — How many customers received the alert.
- Location name — If you use location-based inventory, the email shows which location triggered the restock.
- Market names — If you use Shopify Markets, the email shows which markets were included.

This gives you a quick summary of each alert batch without opening the app
Disable the Notification
If you no longer want to receive these emails, you can turn the setting off at any time.
- Go to Reports > More > Settings.
- Uncheck the Notify me when back in stock alerts are sent checkbox.
- Click Save.
You will stop receiving notification emails immediately. This does not affect the alerts sent to your customers — it only stops the merchant notification.
Troubleshooting
Problem | Solution |
|---|---|
Not receiving notification emails | Go to Reports > More > Settings and make sure the Notify me when back in stock alerts are sent checkbox is checked. Also confirm the email address in the Email address to receive reports field is correct. |
Emails going to the wrong address | Update the Email address to receive reports field on the Reports Settings page and click Save. |
Changes not saving | Make sure you click Save in the top-right corner after making changes. A save bar appears at the top of the page when you have unsaved changes. |
FAQs
Q: Does this setting affect the alerts sent to my customers?
A: No. This setting only controls whether you (the merchant) receive a notification email. It does not change when or how alerts are sent to your customers.
Q: Do I get one email per product or one email per batch?
A: You receive one notification email per alert trigger. If STOQ sends alerts for a single product restock, you get one email. If alerts are sent in a bulk batch, you get a notification for each product included in the batch.
Q: Can I send the notification to a different email than my reports?
A: No. The notification uses the same Email address to receive reports field as weekly and monthly reports. All report-related emails go to the same address.
Q: Does this work for both automatic and manual alerts?
A: Yes. You receive a notification email regardless of whether the back in stock alerts were triggered automatically (when inventory is restocked) or sent manually from the app.
Q: Where else can I manage back in stock notification preferences?
A: The Reports Settings page also includes options to receive weekly and monthly usage reports, get alerted for every waitlist signup, and get notified when waitlists reach a specific threshold. All of these use the same email address.
