How to change preorder offer name and internal name

Every preorder offer in STOQ has two names: an Offer name and an Internal name. The offer name is what your customers see during checkout, while the internal name is what you see inside the STOQ app. This guide explains the difference between the two and how to change each one.

What Is the Difference Between Offer Name and Internal Name

Understanding the difference between these two names helps you stay organized while giving customers a clear checkout experience.

Offer Name

The Offer name is the customer-facing name for your preorder offer. Customers see this name in the cart and at checkout. For example, if you set the offer name to "Preorder," customers will see "Preorder" as the purchase option when they add the product to their cart.

Internal Name

The Internal name is for your own reference inside STOQ. This name will not be shown to customers. It appears on the offer page title, in the offers list, and in reports. Use it to help you quickly identify and organize your offers, especially if you have multiple preorder offers running at the same time.

For example, you might set the offer name to "Preorder" for customers, but use an internal name like "Holiday Launch - December 2025" so you can easily tell your offers apart in STOQ.

Where to Find the Name Settings

The offer name and internal name fields are located in the Widget section of the Customize panel for each offer.

To get there:

  1. Go to Preorders in the STOQ menu.
  2. Click on the offer you want to edit.
  3. Click Customize.
  4. Click Widget.

Both name fields appear side by side at the top of the Widget settings, under the Settings heading.

How to Change the Offer Name

The offer name is what customers see in the cart and at checkout. Follow these steps to update it.

  1. Go to Preorders in the STOQ menu.
  2. Click on the offer you want to edit.
  3. Click Customize.
  4. Click Widget.
  5. Under Settings, find the Offer name field.
  6. Clear the current name and type the new name.
  7. Click Save at the top of the page.

The updated offer name will now appear to customers in the cart and at checkout.

How to Change the Internal Name

The internal name is only visible to you inside STOQ. Follow these steps to update it.

  1. Go to Preorders in the STOQ menu.
  2. Click on the offer you want to edit.
  3. Click Customize.
  4. Click Widget.
  5. Under Settings, find the Internal name field.
  6. Clear the current name and type the new name.
  7. Click Save at the top of the page.

The updated internal name will now appear on the offer page title, in the offers list, and in reports throughout STOQ.

Best Practices for Naming Offers

A clear naming system helps you manage multiple preorder offers without confusion.

  • Keep the offer name simple. Since customers see it, use short and clear names like "Preorder" or "Pre-order."
  • Make internal names descriptive. Include details like product names, launch dates, or campaign names. For example: "Summer Collection - June 2025" or "New Sneakers Launch."
  • Be consistent. Use a naming pattern across all your offers so they are easy to sort and find.
  • Avoid special characters in the offer name. Stick to plain text that looks clean in the cart and checkout.

Troubleshooting

Here are some common issues when changing offer names.

The offer name did not update in the cart

Make sure you clicked Save after changing the name. If the old name still appears, try clearing your browser cache or viewing the store in an incognito window. Changes to the offer name may take a moment to reflect on the storefront.

I cannot tell my offers apart in STOQ

Use the Internal name field to give each offer a unique, descriptive name. The internal name appears on the offer page and in the offers list, making it easier to identify each offer at a glance.

The name fields are not showing

Make sure you are in the Widget section of the Customize panel. Go to Preorders > (select offer) > Customize > Widget. The name fields are at the top under the Settings heading.

FAQs

Q: Does changing the internal name affect customers?

A: No. The internal name is only visible to you inside STOQ. Customers will never see it.

Q: Does changing the offer name affect existing orders?

A: No. Changing the offer name only affects future orders. Existing orders will keep the name that was set at the time of purchase.

Q: What is the default name for a new offer?

A: New offers are created with "Preorder" as the default placeholder for both the offer name and internal name. You can change both at any time.
