How to setup cart and checkout validation to allow only preorders

STOQ can review all carts & checkouts on your store with a checkout rule. If the purchase does not match the rules conditions, customers see an error message and it prevents them from placing incorrect orders.

Enabling STOQ's checkout rule can do the following:

Preorders can only be placed from home, collection, search, and product pages.
Preorders can only be placed from Online Store or Custom Storefront; you must be using Shopify Payments or Paypal.

Note: This rule does not apply to B2B customers.

How to enable Review carts in STOQ

In STOQ, go to "Preorders > Settings".
Head to "Review carts" section and "Turn on" to enable the feature.
Set a custom error message to show whenever customer tries to purchase a preorder product as a regular product.

Ensure that STOQ's checkout rule is added to your store.
Now you're all set and STOQ will always monitor your preorders when they are being placed.

How to setup checkout rule to allow only preorders

In Shopify Admin, click on "Settings". (You can also click here: " Checkout rules" and skip to Step 3)

Click on "Checkout" and scroll to the bottom to find "Checkout rules".
Click on "Add rule".

Under "Add a new checkout rule", select "STOQ Preorder Cart & Checkout Validation".

Keep the checkbox enabled for the setting "If the app fails or experiences a problem", if you want to allow orders to be processed with or without validation.

Disabling the "Allow all customers to complete checkout" option may cause you to miss orders if the app fails or encounters an issue.

Click "Save" to save the current rule.

Click "Turn on" to enable the rule.
Now you're all set using STOQ ensuring that you don't run into "order is not a preorder" issues.
