How to Export STOQ Reports and Data to CSV Files

Exporting reports to CSV in STOQ lets you download your back-in-stock and preorder data for analysis, record-keeping, or sharing with your team. STOQ emails the CSV file to your configured report email address - it does not download directly to your browser.

Every report tab in STOQ has an Export CSV button at the bottom of the table. When you click it, STOQ generates the report in the background and emails the CSV file to you. This guide covers where to find the export button, which reports support CSV export, and how to configure the destination email.

Before You Begin

Make sure the following requirements are met before exporting reports.

  • STOQ is installed on your Shopify store with the app embed enabled.
  • You are on a paid plan. The Export CSV button is disabled on free plans. An upgrade prompt appears next to the button if you are on a free plan.
  • A report email address is configured. STOQ sends exports to the email set in Reports → Settings. If no email is set, exports will not be delivered.

Set Up Your Report Email Address

Before your first export, confirm that STOQ knows where to send the CSV file.

  1. In your Shopify admin, open the STOQ app.
  2. Click Reports in the left navigation menu.
  3. Click **Settings **(the gear icon).
  4. In the **Email address to receive reports **field, enter the email where you want to receive CSV exports.
  5. Click Save.

All CSV exports across every report tab are sent to this email address.

Tip: Use a shared team email address (e.g., reports@yourstore.com) if multiple people need access to exported data.

Export a Report to CSV

The export process is the same across all report tabs. Here is the general workflow.

Steps to Export

  1. In your Shopify admin, open the STOQ app.
  2. Click Reports in the left navigation menu.
  3. Navigate to the report tab you want to export (e.g., Back in stock → Current waitlist).
  4. Optional: Apply any filters (date range, product, search, etc.) to narrow down the data before exporting.
  5. Scroll to the bottom of the table.
  6. Click the Export CSV button (or Email CSV on the Customers tab).
  7. A confirmation dialog appears*: "Are you sure you want to export this report & send it to {your-email}? This may take a few minutes." *
  8. Click OK to confirm.
  9. A toast notification confirms: "Request received".
  10. Check your email inbox for the CSV file. It typically arrives within a few minutes.

Tip: The export respects your current filters. If you have a date range or search filter active, only the filtered data is included in the CSV. Clear all filters before exporting if you want the full dataset.

How the Export Works

Understanding the export process helps you troubleshoot any issues.

Email Delivery

  • STOQ does not download the CSV to your browser. It sends the file to the email address configured in Reports → Settings.
  • The export runs in the background on STOQ's servers. You can close the page or continue working while it processes.
  • A toast notification saying "Request received" confirms the export was queued successfully.

Filters and Date Ranges

  • Most exports respect the date range filter. The export uses the start-of-day (00:00:00) for the start date and end-of-day (23:59:59) for the end date to include all data within the selected range.
  • The Current waitlist and Notifications sent exports also respect the market filter and product/SKU search filters.
  • The Revenue/Analytics exports respect the date range, sort order, and group-by setting (product or variant).

Paid Plan Requirement

  • The Export CSV button is disabled if you are on a free plan. An Upgrade button appears next to it.
  • On the Revenue/Analytics views (Overview tabs), the export button may not show the upgrade prompt but still requires a paid plan.

Advanced Tips

These tips help you get the most out of CSV exports.

  • Export filtered subsets. Apply date filters, search by product name or SKU, or filter by market before exporting. This gives you a focused CSV without unnecessary rows.
  • Schedule regular exports. STOQ can send automated weekly and monthly report emails. Enable these in Reports → Settings by checking Send weekly report on usage and Send monthly report on usage.
  • Use the Overview export for revenue analysis. The Overview tabs (both back-in-stock and preorder) export analytics data including revenue, units sold, and average order value - grouped by product or variant.
  • Export from product pages for granular data. If you only need data for a single product or variant, navigate to that product's page in Reports and export from there instead of exporting the entire report.

Known Limitations

Keep these constraints in mind when exporting reports to CSV.

  • CSV exports are emailed, not downloaded. There is no option to download the file directly to your browser. You must check your email inbox.
  • Exports require a paid plan. The Export CSV button is disabled on free plans across all report tabs.
  • Large exports may take several minutes. If you have thousands of records, the CSV file may take a few minutes to arrive in your inbox.
  • Only one export email address is supported. All exports across all tabs go to the same email configured in Reports → Settings. You cannot send different reports to different emails.
  • Filters are included but not labeled in the file. The CSV contains the filtered data but does not indicate which filters were applied. Keep track of your filter settings if you export multiple subsets.

Troubleshooting

Use the table below to resolve common issues with CSV exports.

Symptom

Possible Cause

Solution

Export CSV button is greyed out / disabled

You are on a free plan

Upgrade to a paid STOQ plan. The upgrade button appears next to the Export CSV button.

No email received after clicking Export CSV

The report email address is not configured or is incorrect.

Go to Reports → Settings and verify the email address in the "Email address to receive reports" field.

Email received but CSV is empty

Your filters are too restrictive and no data matches.

Clear all filters and try exporting again. Check that data exists in the report tab before exporting.

Export takes too long to arrive

Large dataset is being processed.

Wait up to 10 minutes. If the email still does not arrive, check your spam/junk folder and try again.

Confirmation dialog shows wrong email

The report email address was recently changed but the page was not refreshed.

Refresh the page after updating the email address in Reports → Settings.

"Request received" toast appears but nothing happens

The export was queued successfully.

Check your email inbox (and spam folder) within a few minutes. The toast confirms the request was accepted, not that the email was sent.

FAQs

Q: Does the CSV export download directly to my computer?

A: No. STOQ emails the CSV file to the address configured in Reports → Settings. There is no direct browser download option. Check your email inbox after clicking Export CSV.

Q: Can I change which email receives the CSV export?

A: Yes. Go to Reports → Settings and update the Email address to receive reports field. All future exports will be sent to the new address. This change applies to all report tabs.

Q: Do I need a paid plan to export reports?

A: Yes. The Export CSV button is disabled on free plans. You will see an Upgrade button next to it. Upgrade to any paid STOQ plan to unlock CSV exports.

Q: Does the export include only the current page or all matching records**? **

**A: **The export includes all records that match your current filters, not just the rows visible on the current page. This means you get the full dataset in the CSV even if the table is paginated.

Q: Why does the Customers tab say "Email CSV" instead of "Export CSV"?

A: The Customers tab uses the label Email CSV instead of Export CSV, but the behavior is identical. Clicking it exports the customer data and emails the CSV to your configured report email address.

Q: Can I export data for a single product instead of the entire report**? **

**A: **Yes. Navigate to Reports → Back in stock → Products, click on the specific product, then use the Export CSV button on the product's individual waitlist or notifications sent view. This exports data only for that product.

Q: Are date filters included in the export?

A: Yes. The export respects your active date range filter. Only data within the selected date range is included in the CSV. If you want all data, set the date filter to All time or clear all filters before exporting.

Q: Can I schedule automatic CSV exports?

**A: **STOQ does not support scheduled CSV exports for individual reports. However, you can enable weekly and monthly automated report emails in Reports → Settings. These summary emails provide usage statistics on a recurring basis.
